First let’s start with some basic information. Morristown is located in Morris County, New Jersey. It has a suburban feel, but it’s located close enough to New York City to allow quick enough access. Many people live in Morristown and commute to the City for work.
I’ve lived in Morristown for decades and I can honestly say I’ve always felt safe. In my opinion, Morristown is one of the safer communities in New Jersey. As far as the cost of living, I have found it to be reasonable. It’s not that expensive to live in Morristown, NJ if you are making a decent living.
Is Morristown, NJ a nice place to raise a family?
Many people who live in New York City (Manhattan or the boroughs) move to New Jersey, and even more to Morristown specifically, because they want a more relaxed and comfortable lifestyle. In my opinion, the quality of life is much higher living in Morristown. The population density is lower than living in New York City.
Morristown is one of the nicest places to raise a family in New Jersey (I know from experience.) The schools are great and there is decent healthcare. Plus, as I’ll get to in a moment, there is a great sense of history and many attractions that kids love. If you are considering moving from New York City to New Jersey to raise your family, put Morristown on your list of places to consider.
Overall, I have found Morristown to be a great place to live, work, and to raise a family. Here are the nine things we love about being financial advisors in Morristown, NJ.

1. History
Characters from the Broadway show Hamilton were in Morristown. Alexander Hamilton courted Elizabeth Schuyler in town. Hamilton and Washington were together here. Washington’s Headquarters is a beautiful building still standing. It’s fun to spot Hamilton, Washington and Schuyler’s names on buildings and plaques around town.
2. Parks
We always enjoy passing through the Morristown Green on the way to a meeting. It is a leafy, bench lined square that brings a bit of calm and nature right into the center of town. Lewis Morris Park is great for a trail run or nature hike in the hills. The Frelinghuysen Arboretum has gorgeous gardens and a preserve surrounding a Colonial mansion.
3. Restaurants
It is a highlight to meet clients for lunch at South + Pine. It is so welcoming and delicious. The chef is amazing. She had an incredible career with a celebrity chef. The menu is fresh and seasonal. They are doing a great take away service for meals and groceries now.
Jockey Hollow executes on multiple concepts from fine dining to a raw bar. Each one is a special treat.
Saigon Subs is a favorite take out spot for the office. Always fresh and savory.
4. Morris Museum
We pass this on the way to work. It’s a Smithsonian Affiliate. The installations are great. It’s an engaging venue for events and there are many family programs for kids to enjoy.
5. Culture –Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)
MPAC has a very active calendar. There are events for any age. The center features headliners, comedians, and cover bands. It is surrounded by great restaurants. It makes a great evening to share a meal and see a show.
6. Events
Morristown pulls out the stops for St. Patrick’s Day. It is also a great backdrop when the team brings the kids for Take Your Child to Work Day. After some hard work and personal finance we take them for a business lunch and a quick stop into the vintage arcade for pinball and console games.
7. Healthcare
Morristown Memorial hospital is down the block. Many specialists are located in town. It’s comforting to know there is world class healthcare nearby. Some clients schedule our meetings to back to back with their doctor’s appointments. Smart and convenient!
8. Our Office
We took new space in 2018. The large windows and spacious layout are bright and welcoming. The technology is great. It’s a very comfortable place to welcome clients and work.
9. Community
Overall we feel that Morristown has a wonderful energy. It’s a combination of business, history and family life.
